One done, one to go.

They are a quick knit I've just been busy with work and other things. I started this sock on the 21st, so it's taken me a week to get to this point. However, I think it could be knit in 2 days if I really had some decent knitting time!

I made them a little bit smaller than my feet size thinking I'd give them as a birthday gift to my boyfriend's mum. But he's concerned (so am I a little now too) that they wont fit around her calves. oh well maybe my twin sister will get a surprise in the mail!

Not only have i learnt how to do a figure 8 cast on I have now completed my first ever sewn bind off! I googled how to do it and got a fantastic blog from woolywonder with great pics and description. It's actually super easy to do!

It's kind of exciting i've already begun looking at cloth patterns, but I guess should hold off until I find out who my partner is and their likes and dislikes!

twinkle toes final attempt

Well touch wood but this one is actually turning out. This is my forth real attempt at this pattern.

Today I managed to do the heel and now i'm onto the leg.

I know I am going to have second sock syndrome :o( oh no...

I really want to finish BOTH so I can say I HAVE made sock and not just mean socks for babies and kiddos.

Apple and Date Scroll Recipe

These are seriously the best thing i cook!

I've made so many batches since i made up this recipe. My boyfriend requests them for work...

Ingredients:

2 tsp dry yeast

2/3 cup warm water

2 tbs brown sugar

2 cups plain flour

2 tsp mixed spice

2 tsp ground cinnamon

1 grated apple

1 chopped apple

3/4 cup chopped dates

2 tbs melted butter

2 tbs milk

1 egg, beaten

Method.

Mix water, yeast and sugar together and let stand for 10mins or until frothy.

mix dry ingredients, mix through dates and both grated and chopped apples, add butter, egg, milk and yeast mix.

knead on floured surface until smooth.

Leave covered in a warm place to rise for 20mins.

shaped into scrolls or buns- whatever you desire! Then cover and leave to rise for another 20mins.

Place into preheated oven (200 degrees) for 5 mins then drop back to 190 degrees for another 10minutes. (*all ovens vary so check on them) I like mine slightly under done...

let cool or eat warm! YUM!

The whole house smells delicious after baking these.

Mother's day table runner.

I made this for my nanna for mother's day...

It was my first time doing any sort of quilting!

I like the end result. Even though it's not entirely perfect.

My nanna loved it too and that's what counts!

Oh just so you know the photo is of me, my nanna and my twin sister.

I just made this pattern from Ravelry. Turned out well, mine's a little different (mirror image) due to trying to use more than one colour!

I would make this again.

I used wool from my stash and 5mm circular needles to obtain this size.

I still need to get some buttons! I'm thinking pink on the white section and white on the pink areas. I'm also wondering whether i should add some pink dots over the white body??? Either embroidery or felt circles...

Well I'm in the process of making baby clothes and booties as gifts for one of my bosses. She having a baby girl in the beggining of July. And i just had to craft her presents!

So far she is getting

*An autumn leaves sweater with matching mary jane booties

*Striped smock top with saartje booties

* A bunny with a rattle inside from this great tutorial

*With more to come!

WOW! i just made some leggings! with the help of this fantastic tute from over at craftster.

Didn't take long at all!

I wouldn't have usually chosen this fabric but it came in a mixed bag of remnants and i probably wouldn't have used it only i came across the above mentioned tutorial.

They are a little too tight, but i think i will make some more in plainer colours and i'll add more of an allowance to my 'template' (old 3/4 tights i traced around).

I reccommend giving it a go. I'm making more for winter so i can still wear skirts and dresses!

Oh my! wow I didn't think it had been that long. Well of course i knew it had been a LONG time but still o7!

Well I'm back and more committed this time!

I've got a couple of things to share, as my blogging may have stopped my crafting sure didn't!

This is a cake i made for my nanna back in March!

It was my first time using fondant and i was happy with the end product!

I'm well known for being a bad cook in my family so everyone was impressed with my newly found skills.

I'm really busy at the moment with work, uni and teaching rounds comming up the week after next... So i've made a promise to myself that I can't start any new knitting projects for another month when i'm all done with uni... so i've made a list of the things i really, really want to make and compiled a shopping list. lol. I'm babysitting on Saturday night so i may just have to slightly alter my promise :p because once i get the kids off to be what will i do?!?

Number 1 on my list is this beautiful bag from Berroco

I'm still deciding on a colour but i think i'll go with a natural green maybe with a yellow or pink lining... we'll see!

Number2 is another bag! This one is from Knitting Daily, it's called the knitting needle knitting bag. And i just love all things PINK so i will make this in pink for sure. However, I'm not intending yo just use this for my knitting i want to take this bag everywhere!

Next on my list a a bunch of different illusion knitting ideas and projects...

And finally i want to try knitting my first sock on double pointed needles! ooohhhh scary LOL

Any hints???
